Using Magnets

To utilize the magnets in Poser we will need to isolate the portion of the character that we are going to ultimately effect with the magnet. In this case I am going to be creating some ear morphs for James.

I have selected his head as you know, that is where his ears are.

Choose Menu>Create Magnet, and you will see that the magnet is set to effect the entire head of James.

In order to just effect the ears of James we need to re-size the sphere if influence that the magnet is effecting...in order to accomplish this we need to select the INNER portion of the sphere and using the parameter dials, re-size the inner sphere and position it so that is is only influencing the tip of the ear.

Now with the magnet selected again we are going to alter the shape of the ear. I have used the y-tran to move the tip up and a rotate to bring it forward slightly.

You will now wish to save this morph using the figure menu options, and create the other ear. This can be done easily by selecting the inner sphere of influence and altering the x-tran position by it's opposite. (i.e. if the x-tran is 1.123, then you will just need to add an '-' to the start to make it a negative number like -1.123)
